You’ve all heard the song, right?
Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay
My, oh my what a wonderful day!
Plenty of sunshine heading my way
Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay
Mister Bluebird on my shoulder
It’s the truth, it’s factual
Ev’rything is satisfactual
Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay
Wonderful feeling, wonderful day!
I love the song.
Before I started the project, I thought that bluebirds were just made up for songs like these! But now that I’ve seen them out in the wild, I’ve learned a lot about them and a lot about life. To me, bluebirds represent something positive, like happiness itself. Sometimes, happiness just flies into your life like a gift! You don’t want to cling to it or control it, so you “let it go” and let it run its course. Sometimes, you feel like it wasn’t meant for you.
But you wait, and it comes right back into your pocket! Happiness is for you to keep. It reminds me of the saying, “If you love something set it free, if it comes back its yours, if not it was never meant to be.” Birds represent freedom, happiness, and songs of pure joy. Blue is such a calming, peaceful color. It brings to mind open skies and clear days, which is what we all hope to have!
A part of enjoying nature is just letting it be, and bring to you the gifts Mother Nature wants to share. You can’t force nature to bring you happiness, you have to just wait for it. This is why nature has inspired so many poets and artists in so many different ways! Nature gave them their own, special happiness. That is why my personal mantra is “Breathe, Believe, Be.” Just breathe, and trust. Know that your problems will work themselves out. All you can do until then is just be a part of the moment!
You might find your own motivation in nature. Maybe you grow a love for chickadees or tree swallows, or maybe your curiosity brings you to something else entirely. That’s okay! That’s what Mother Nature brought you to and it’s your turn to just be.
